Fire is the probably the biggest risk threat to life that most people face at work, with around 50 people being killed and over 2000 seriously injured every year. In order to minimise the risk of fire in the school/workplace, it is vital that all employers and school staff are aware of the common causes of fire and the appropriate actions to take in the event of a fire, including how to escape safely from the scene.

Employers are legally required by Fire Safety Regulations to provide information, instruction and training to employees about the fire precautions in the school/workplace. This fire safety and evacuation training will help employers to fulfil this requirement by providing learners with the knowledge and understanding required to act safely in the event of a fire in the school/workplace.

On completion of this course learners will:

  • Be aware of the key legislation relating to fire safety.
  • Know what the 'Fire Triangle' is.
  • Broadly know about fire detection and warning systems and how to use and react to them.
  • Understand the key factors relating to evacuation in the event of fire.
  • Know about the types of fire that can develop and what type of extinguishers can be used on them.
  • Be aware of what precautions you can take to minimise the risk of fire.
